![]() In order to be eligible to receive the degrees of Eastern Star, a woman must be a: wife, daughter, adopted daughter, mother, widow, sister, half sister, granddaughter, stepmother, stepdaughter, stepsister, daughter-in-law,grandmother, great granddaughter, niece, great niece, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, or aunt of a Master Mason in good standing. They also provide a framework for introspective thought and philosophical discussion on ethical and spiritual topics. ![]() Like all Masonic organizations, they support membership when in need, both financially and emotionally. It’s more of an axillary group, that supports masonic lodges, masonic youth organizations, as well as their own agenda. ![]() It is a member of the Masonic family, but joining does not make a member a mason. The Order of the Eastern Star (or Eastern Star, or OES), is the world’s largest fraternal organization that can be joined by both men and women. (Yes, you read that right!) Purposes The stated purposes of the organization are: Charitable, Educational, Fraternal and Scientific. The personal welfare of our members is vital to all of those in the Eastern Star, and it is considered a privilege to help another member whenever we can. While this is an Order composed of people of deep spiritual convictions, it is open to all faiths, except no faith. It is the wholesome relationship of sisterly and brotherly love brought about through high principles exemplified in our lives which makes us near and dear to each other. A deep fraternal bond exists between its members. Its appeal rests in the true beauty of the refreshing and character-building lessons that are so sincerely portrayed in its ritualistic work. Originally a woman have to be the daughter, widow, wife, sister or mother of a master Mason, but the Order now allows other relatives as well as allowing Job's Daughters and Rainbow Girls to become members when of age.Įastern Star is a social order comprised of persons with spiritual values, but it is not a religion. Men must be Master Masons and women must have specific relationships with Masons. Members of the Order of the Eastern Star are aged 18 and older. ![]() Worldwide, there are over 500,000 members under the General Grand Chapter. What It Is: The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which both women and men may belong. Morris had the idea that it would be nice to have a way for female relatives of Master Masons to share the benefits of knowledge and self-improvement that Freemasonry made available to men and to have a place in the Masonic Family that would allow men and women to participate together. The Order of the Eastern Star was founded by Dr. ![]() Eastern Star strives to build an environment for our members and our Order which is truly dedicated to Charity, Truth and Loving Kindness by uplifting each other and through service in our communities. These portray the noble principles which should adorn the personal lives of Eastern Star members. Robert Morris, the poet laureate of Masonry, founded this Order using beautiful and inspiring Biblical examples of heroic conduct and moral values. ![]()
